Hurricane update August 2014, Iselle did not hit Hawaii

The media is having a field day claiming that Hurricane Iselle "hit" the Big Island. Further, that this "hit" dispelled the myth. Nothing is further from the truth. No hurricane hit Hawaii Island.

The volcanoes did exactly what they always do. They killed Iselle before it hit. Trillions of pounds of cold rock and thousands of square miles of elevated land dealt a triple blow:

1. Cold rock cooled advancing warm air.

A book report or term paper on hurricanes should include information your instructor doesn't know.

Almost all teachers think there is nothing more powerful than a hurricane. That isn't true.

Hawaii has been defending itself against hurricanes with two things more powerful. Both land and the jet stream are more powerful and Hawaii has both. Better yet, Hawaii has hundreds of square miles of land on the summits of tall volcanoes that steal moisture and heat from a hurricane...

Hurricane Insurance - FEMA's Incorrect Classification of Hawaii
A base homeowner's policy insures your home in the event of fire and a list of perils described as the “extended coverage endorsement”. Extended coverage covers in the event of windstorm, hail, explosion, civil commotion, etc. Almost all extended coverage endorsements will include coverage for hurricanes, unless, the home is in a hurricane-prone area.
