Boomer struggles is a forum blog - a 'little' brother' to my main blog and website of the same name.
[B]My goal is to educate baby boomers, elders, and their families of the struggles we face as we age[/B].
The United States health care system and the health care industry are not prepared for the huge number of baby boomers that are about to depend on it.
There are 78 million baby boomers in the USA alone. In 2011 the oldest boomers are just entering the 'elder' age group,65+.
The elders age group changes to include the boomers at an increased rate. Something we have never experienced in this country. The Census Bureau facts are staggering.
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid has expressed serious concern that the funds the federal government has to fund these programs might not be enough to cover this huge group. They anticipate a shortfall.
The health care industry is already facing shortages. They acknowledge that their industry might not be able to cover the demands of the boomer generation.
I hope to find solutions to some of the most pressing problems thru discussion.
We are a generation of do-ers.
We have to plan for our own health care
well in advance.
I will educate as we go. I expect that you will educate me as well.
