Pine Avenue

There are a lot of California residents who have misconceptions about visiting Long Beach and the businesses and shops that line the streets of downtown want everyone to know the area is fun, convenient, safe and well worth a visit. The area is set along the waterfront, about 20 minutes from the center of Orange County and Los Angeles. There are a number of ways to reach the area including mass transit, driving and biking. The Pine Avenue area is one of the most well-known streets in the area for entertainment and dining. The street is lined with art deco style buildings, many of them refurbished and turned into cafes, homes, nightclubs, shops and restaurants. From sun up past sunset, the street is bustling with a variety of activity. Downtown prides itself on being one of the safest neighborhoods in Los Angeles and they enjoy the services of a capable fire and police department, as well as a number of city services that keep the area clean. Their Clean Team removes paper signs that are hung on public property, steam cleans the gutters and sidewalks, pulls weeds from gardens and grassy areas and removes litter and graffiti within 24 hours of a report. The Safe Team offers outreach to homeless people in the area, ensuring they are safe and have a place to go, while making the area more comfortable for visitors. They also give shopping and dining recommendations, maintain radio communication with the police, offers escorts to vehicles any time of day and assist with car maintenance like jumping batteries and changing tires.
