Willowbrook Farm

The Willowbrook Farm in Oak Glen, California offers visitors a chance to pick their own apples, learn about growing produce, press cider and even host special events. Rick and Cheryl Swanson are the owners of the farm, located just a few hours from Los Angeles and Orange County. The orchard is more than a century old and is surrounded by fresh, clean air, babbling brooks and meadows. The orchard is filled with Stayman Winesap apples. Guests have the opportunity to use a cider press and make their own old fashioned cider to take home with them. There is also a gift shop onsite where visitors can browse for gift items and treasures. When guests arrive at the orchard, they get to choose a picking bag and after undergoing a quick harvesting lesson, they can fill their three, five or seven pound bag with apples of their choosing. Group tours and group picking expeditions are available and can be tailored for preschool and elementary aged children if necessary. The minimum size of a group is 25 and tours include a gallon of cider, fun with the farm animals, lessons about the orchard and harvesting, a tractor ride, a fresh dipped caramel apple and a hike to the picnic area. The farm also hosts small weddings and will provide guests with special occasion caramel apples. Two of the most popular characters at the farm are the miniature pony and the pot belly pig.
