Ventura City Hall

The Ventura City Hall is a government building located at 501 Poli Street in Ventura, California. The building is a local antique and used to be the main courthouse of the city but today is used for the city council and city offices. The Ventura City Hall building is the oldest structure in the city of Ventura. The architecture of the building is exquisite and the location superb as there are views of the ocean from all angles. The building is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and closed on weekends.

Built by Los Angeles architect Albert C. Martin, in 1912 in the "beaux-arts" style, City Hall features neo-classic columns, arched windows, and terra cotta facade decorated 24 faces of Franciscan padres, the order that founded the city in 1782. The foyer features an Italian marble stairway that boldly leads to what was once the Superior Courtroom. The statue of Padre Junipero Serra that graces the boulevard in front of the City Hall is a bronze of a wooden sculpture that is quite striking. Visitors enjoy taking photos outside and even inside the city hall building. Three stain glass domes also stand out and provide great photo opportunities.
