Redondo State Beach

Redondo State Beach is a beach in Southern California. Beachgoers enjoy great views of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. There are plenty of ways to enjoy the beach and it is often one of the most crowded destinations in the area. There are no fees to access the beach, but parking in the structure or in nearby metered spots may set you back a few bucks. On Thursdays the area features a Farmers Market just a few steps from the beach. The beach offers a variety of recreational activities including volleyball games, a bike path, swimming with the protection of a lifeguard during the daylight hours and a walking path. Visitors also enjoy access to amenities like showers, restrooms and nearby restaurants. Pets are not allowed on the beach. The beach is one of the most popular places for people to watch the grunion run, an annual event that involves fish splaying across the shoreline looking for their mate. Alcohol is not permitted on the beach. While many of California's beaches are popular hot spots for fishing, you will rarely find many surfers on Redondo. The water quality at the beach is often less than stellar, so swimmers may fare better visiting other areas along the coast.
