Cannery Row Heritage Rail Car

Cannery Row is a street on the Central Coast that is located near a variety of restaurants, hotels, shops, wineries, boutiques, and recreation opportunities. The John Steinbeck novel Cannery Row captured the feeling of this bustling street that attracts tourists from all over California and across the country. It is located on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and is home to Monterey's only waterfront resort, the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa. Visitors to Cannery Row can enjoy a walk along the Coastal Recreation Trail, a trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, or a meal at one of the many waterfront dining establishments. Meals range from quick and inexpensive to gourmet, four star dining, and many of the menus utilize the fresh seafood available just seconds from their kitchens. Families can choose between Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, the Sardine Factory, The Duck Club Grill, Schooners Bistro on the Bay, or Sly McFly's. Those who come to Cannery Row to shop can choose from outlets, boutiques, and quaint waterside stores that offer unique gifts and treasures that make perfect souvenirs. Begin your visit to Cannery Row with a trip to the Visitors Center and then head over to the Heritage Rail Car to get a few snapshots of the historic train before enjoying a sunny, seaside afternoon.
