This visit was made to conduct a routine food safety evaluation. The Person in Charge was very helpful during the visit. Thank you. The following issues require attention:
1. Please implement an employee health policy for all employees and ensure that all employees are aware of it and their responsibilities. A employee health policy poster was provided to the Person in Charge and a copy of the employee health policy agreement for employees will be provided by e-mail.
Note: Please note that the dishwashing machine takes time to reach its temperature to properly sanitize using high temperature. When operating the machine after it has not been used in a few hours you will need to run the machine a few times through its cycle in order to ensure that the proper temperature is reached.

  • Critical: Employee Health Policy Requirements
    Observation: Through conversation with the Person in Charge there appears to be no employee health policy for the establishment.
    Correction: Create and implement an EHP that: 1) requires employees to report certain symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, jaundice, sore throat with fever, or a lesion/infected wound) and illnesses (Norovirus, Hepatitis A, Salmonella Typhi, Nontyphoidal Salmonella, E. coli, or Shigella)
  • Handwashing Cleanser, Available at Handwashing Facilities
    Observation: Observed that hand soap was not provided in the men's restroom for employees.
    Correction: Provide hand soap at each hand sink to allow employees to properly wash their hands. Person in Charge to discuss with hotel management to correct this and provide soap.
10/22/2015Routine
This visit was made to conduct a pre-opening inspection. The following item requires correction:
1. The spray hose at the 3-compartment sink is not supplied with a 1" air gap. Currently the spray hose hangs into the sink basin when not stored on hook. The rotating faucet does not reach all three compartment due to the spray hose. Decrease the length of the spray hose to provide a 1" air gap or remove spray hose and cap line.
Remodel complete, okay to re-open.

This visit was made to conduct routine inspection and to follow-up on the July 23, 2014 change of ownership inspection.
The hotel is scheduled to be renovated in September and Starbuck's may be completely moved to another location. Facility must do a plan review with our office before this is done. Contact the main office

  • Wiping Cloths/Use Limitation/Wet Towel Storage
    Observation: The wet wiping cloths were not stored in sanitizer between use.
    Correction: Cloths in use for wiping counters and other equipment surfaces shall be held between uses in a chemical sanitizer solution at a specified concentration.
  • Sanitize Solution Used for Wiping Cloths Stored off Floor, Prevent Contamination of Food & Equipment
    Observation: Wet wiping cloth buckets improperly stored. Wiping cloth bucket was improperly stored on the floor.
    Correction: Wet wiping cloth buckets containing chemical sanitizing solutions shall not be stored on the floor. The wet towel buckets shall also be used in a manner that prevents contamination of food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single service items.
  • Food Storage / Preventing Contamination / Location (corrected on site)
    Observation: Food stored in a wet or soiled location as follows: Bananas were improperly stored at the hand sink. The bananas were relocated during the inspection.
    Correction: Food shall be protected from contamination by storing the food in a clean, dry location.
  • Critical: Cold Holding of Potentially Hazardous Food at 41°F or less (corrected on site)
    Observation: The following food item(s) were measured at improper temperatures: half n half and whole milk. The milks were discarded during the inspection.
    Correction: Potentially hazardous foods (time/temperature control for safety food) shall be held cold at a temperature of 41°F or below.
  • Warewash Drainboards/Present/ Sized for Soiled & Cleaned Equip
    Observation: The drainboards/utensil racks/storage tables are not provided to accommodate all soiled and cleaned items.
    Correction: Drainboards, utensil racks, or tables are not provided to accommodate all soiled and cleaned items that may accumulate during hours of operation shall be provided for necessary equipment and utensil holding before cleaning and after sanitizing.
  • Critical: Backflow Prevention, Air Gap / When Required
    Observation: Observed the pre-wash spray hose to extend below the flood rim level of the sink basin at the 3-vat sink. Provide an air gap or remove the pre-spray from the 3 compartment sink in 10 days.
    Correction: A plumbing system shall be installed to preclude backflow of a solid, liquid, or gas contaminant into the water supply system at each point of use at the food establishment, including on a hose bib if a hose is attached or on a hose bib if a hose is not attached and backflow prevention is required by Law by providing an air gap as specified under 5-202.13. The spray hose at the 3-vat sink shall be altered to hang above the flood level rim of the 3-vat sink in order to provide an air gap.

This visit was made to conduct a change of ownership inspection. The following items must be corrected prior to permit issuance:
-- Based on the number of plumbing fixtures and the size of your hot water heater, your water heater does not currently meet our requirements. You will need to upgrade the water heater before we can issue the permit.
The following items must be corrected within 10 days:
- Provide air gap for pre-rinse sprayer (must be above flood level rim)
- Provide shatter proof bulbs or shielding for bulbs over prep area
- Repair display case refrigerator (no time/temp control for safety foods (TCS) currently in unit
- Install drain boards for 3 compartment sink
