  • History The Camden County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was established in 1990 to foster growth and development of Hispanic Busi¬nesses in Camden County. There is an ever-increasing number of businesses in the county with a wide variety of needs ranging from access to capital to finan¬cial planning. Most small busi¬nesses have five or less employees that can benefit from the services provided by the chamber. Camden County is home to many successful Hispanic businesses that create the basis for economic growth and economic stability in the community and the region. Economic growth is essential to improve the quality of life, especially in Camden City where the majority of Hispanic businesses are located. The Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Camden County strives to be a leader in this effort, building partnerships with residents, business community and government. Hispanic Business Ventures There are a great number of business opportunities available in Camden County. Economic growth is obvious throughout Camden City, especially the waterfront and its neighboring communities. The large number of new businesses is indication of local government commitment to strengthening and supporting economic development in the area. The Chamber promotes a vibrant business environment and economic prosperity through vision, expertise and innovative solutions. The Chamber is dedicated to bringing solutions to long-term challenges our state is facing in six key areas, economic development, education, environment, government reform, health care and transportation. Forming Partnerships A key aspect to economic growth for Hispanic businesses is its ability to create partnerships necessary to build and expand capacity. In order to compete, small businesses must take advantage of new technology and improved business strategies. Forming partnerships can provide the needed business resources and facilitate a greater access to capital. The Chamber reaches out to interested potential partners willing to work with Hispanic businesses. Growth through Education and Training Expertise and experience is normally required to operate a successful business; most failing businesses suffer from lack of planning, knowledge and/or understanding of the business process. It is also important to understand and have necessary skills in budgeting, accounting and cash flow of a particular business venture. The Hispanic Chamber can play an essential role in assisting businesses and identifying resources needed in the Hispanic business community. Training sessions are offered to our members as needed. We are in process of partnering with an institution that can offer training free of charge.
