- Storage requirements
Failure to properly store toxic cleaning compounds in a manner that protects against contamination of food-contact surfaces. Specifically, I observes various cleaners and other toxic chemicals being stored on a shelf above glass coffee carafes in the equipment servicing area. Carafes are supplied to customers such as food service or retail establishments who purchase coffee products from the firm.
- Lack of effective pest exclusion
Effective measures are not being taken to exclude pests from the processing areas. Specifically, I observed a door along the east wall of the servicing area left open. In addition, I observed two overhead doors in the northeast corner of the warehouse that were left open. The doors left open were not screened and opened directly outdoors. I also observed rodent like excreta pellets on shelves in the equipment storage area.
- Storage/transportation of finished goods (contamination)
Failure to store finished food under conditions that would protect against physical contamination. Specifically, I observed a plastic water bottled with a small amount of liquid and cigarett butts, setting on a shelf with boxed food product (french vanilla) in the warehouse area. The bottle was immediately removed from the shelf and discarded. Corrected-on-site.
- Food-contact - withstand food & cleaning cmpds.
Food contact surfaces are not designed to withstand cleaning compounds and sanitizing agents. Specifically, I observed single use containers being used for storage of "green coffee". Management explained that containers are emptied, washed, and refilled. Single-use containers are not designed, nor intended, for multiple use or frequent washing and sanitizing cycles.
