Description: Published on Fri—although the online edition is updated continuously—the Austin Business Journal is the only newspaper in the area dedicated to business news and information. Founded locally in 1980, the tabloid-format newspaper covers developments affecting the growth of the region and monitors the progress of new businesses coming to the area. For example, it created a link on its website to all its coverage of efforts to open a $180 million Formula One racetrack in the area by 2012. The Business Journal also promotes networking by publishing a listing of weekly events and meetings of interest to the business community. Of special interest to many businesspeople and newcomers are the Journal’s annual guides and directories, most notably the Book of Lists. This massive volume, issued in Dec, provides information on more than 1,500 companies of interest to the business community. The print version of the Business Journal is available for delivery or it can be purchased at newsstands around the area.
