Description: There are two courses at this municipal golf club located in Southeast Austin. The 6,749-yard Roy Kizer Course is 18 holes, par 71, and has a driving range. The course is described as a “thinking man’s golf course” because of its carefully laid out design. It is named after a legendary figure in Austin golf who was the course superintendent at the Lions course (below) from 1937 until 1973. The 57 acres of lakes and marshes surrounding the course add to its natural beauty. Tee times for weekdays are taken 3 days in advance; Fri, Sat, and Sun tee times are taken on Tues beginning at 7 a.m. Greens fees depend on the day of the week and time of day. The 6,857-yard Jimmy Clay course has 18 holes, par 72. Tee times for weekdays are taken one day in advance; weekend tee times are taken Fri beginning at 7 a.m. A third, 4-hole course designed to encourage new players has been built on the site of an old water treatment plant and has 22 acres of wetlands and a 35-acre lake to attract wildlife. The small course is named The Joe Balandar Learning Center in honor of another notable Austin golfer.
