Description: Extreme Ice is the biggest thing to ever hit Charlotte’s ice skating and hockey scene. This 87,000-square-foot facility opened in 2006 with two regulation-sized hockey rinks and a smaller rink nicknamed “the puddle.” Extreme Ice was co-founded by Tom Logano, father of NASCAR driver Joey Logano, and is the official practice facility of the Charlotte Checkers minor league hockey squad. Figure skaters can take lessons from Paul Wylie, a free style medalist in the 1992 Winter Olympics.Away from the ice, Extreme offers a fitness center, pro shop, arcade, locker rooms, snack bar, multi-purpose room and the Center Ice Tavern, serving food and drinks.
