User-submitted facts and corrections:

  • Orestes Elementary School is no longer in function
  • Alexandria (Knotts)Airport (I99) is the base of operations of the Central Indiana Soaring Society (CISS), the largest Gliding club in the state, and one of the oldest in the country. Intense glider activity takes place every flyable Saturday and Sunday between April and October, and many weekdays when the conditions are favorable. The club has 5 club ships, 6 flight instructors, strict organization but friendly operations. The 15 or so private ships bring the number of the fleet to about 20. Look up every now and then and you'll see the skies over Alexandria doted with beautifully aerodynamic white planes. But you have to look up because you'll never hear them; they have no motor. CISS website is http://www.centralindianasoaringsociety.org added by Mario
  • Marie Thurston is now Alexandria Elementary (grades k-3). Cunningham Elem. is now closed. Alexandria Middle School is now Alexandria Intermediate School (grades 4-7)Alexandria Monroe High School is grades 8-12.
  • Your destination in Indiana is the town of Alexandria. You probably recognize the name: This is the town that made international news 10 years ago when three workers pulled a hairball the size of a goat out of a sewer. The hairball became an instant nationwide celebrity, kind of like \'\'Joe Millionaire,\'\' only with more intellectual depth. The original hairball dissolved, but the people of Alexandria made a replica, which bears a striking resemblance to Donald Trump, and which (I am not making this up) has been prominently featured in the annual Christmas parade. -Dave Barry http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/living/columnists/dave_barry/8906033.htm?ERIGHTS=3790275071108343938miami::webmaster@planetfallstudios.com&KRD_RM=1iolnjohlhjohhhhhhhhimkjmk|J|Y added by J W Wright
