Yankee Freedom II

The Yankee Freedom II is a part of the Yankee Fleet. It is a catamaran and is the largest, fastest, newest vessel that carries people from Key West to Fort Jefferson Dry Tortugas Park. The fleet features seven boats total and offers a variety of charters out of New England, including whale watching trips, educational trips, deep sea fishing charters, whale conservation and marine stewardship expeditions. The Yankee Freedom II is part of the International Organization for Standardization and has won the organization's Environment Award. This means the boat and charter trips conform to the standards set by the organization in regard to service, quality and environmental awareness. This is the only fleet in Florida that carries this honor. The boat travels about 70 miles west from Key West to the Dry Tortugas. This is an area surrounded by coral reefs and white beaches. It is made up of seven separate islands offering snorkeling, swimming, sunbathing and a variety of other beach recreation activities. During the trip, riders get to enjoy an orientation about the area and the park's surroundings, so they are familiar with the natural features by the time they disembark. The boat is 100-feet long and 60-feet wide, capable of carrying 250 passengers.
