Welk Theatre San Diego

Also known as the Lawrence Welk Theater, the Welk Theatre San Diego has become a fixture in the nightlife of Escondido. In 1964, the famed pianist purchased a motel and a nine-hole golf course in the area. That initial foray into real estate eventually led to the formation of Welk Resorts, which today manages this 339-seat auditorium in conjunction with its local timeshare operations.

The theater's ten-show season includes a mix of concert-style performances and stage productions. Recent productions have included the comedy of Cloris Leachman, the talents of Mitzi Gaynor and Debbie Reynolds, a dramatic rendition of "It's a Wonderful Life," the musical adventure "Pirates of Penzance," and even magic and ventriloquism acts. Ticket prices range from $35.20 to $63.50 and can be purchased with or without an included buffet dinner.

The Welk Theatre San Diego is also available for rental. Its stage area, comfortable seats, and spacious lobby have been used for conducting business conferences, arranging social gatherings, and putting on gala events by Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, churches and families alike.

The Welk Theatre San Diego is located at 8860 Lawrence Welk Drive, Escondido, California 92026. A gift shop offering Lawrence Welk memorabilia can also be found on the premises.
