Top of the Sierra Interpretive Center

The Top of the Sierra Interpretive Center is located at the summit of Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort at over 11,000 feet. The exhibits center on the regions volcanic activity and history, weather in the region, and general geographical topics. Entry into the interpretive center is free of charge with the purchase of another service such as a gondola ride, bike ticket, ski lift ticket, or season pass. The museum is only accessible by riding the gondola.

The area is known for having some of the most scenic views in the entire state. There are high powered telescopes that are pre-pointed to specific locations that give the viewer an up close look at the distant scenery. There is also an onsite earthquake sensor that is still fully operational. Along with the interpretive center is the café that serves light fare and beverages.

Many times there are high winds at the interpretive center so people are encouraged to dress warm and in layers. The official address of the Top of the Sierra Interpretive Center is 1 Minaret Rd, Gondola building at the top of Mammoth Mountain, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546. The gondola ride to the top of the mountain costs $18.
