The Hess Collection


Hess Family Estates began in 1844 in Bern, Switzerland. Eventually, part of the family moved to Napa, Napa Valley, California. Today the Hess Family Estates Wineries have seen four generations of owners providing a variety of wine both in Switzerland and California. The Hess Collection is located at 4411 Redwood Road Napa, California. Visitors can join the wine club, purchase wines, or visit the winery for a tasting of The Hess Collection.

Hours of operation are subject to change based on time of year, holidays, and other necessities. Those wishing to tour will find the tasting room is generally open 10am to 5:30pm. The Hess Collection was started by Donald Hess in 1978. This winery is known for its Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay wines. The original estate was owned by Colonel Theodore Gier in 1903. The winery was not open to the public until 1989.

Tasting tours include private tour and wine tastings for $25 per person. There is also the wine educational tour and tasting held every other Sunday for $30 per person. There are three wine and food tasting options: the tour of the palate, tour/wine/ cheese, and the wine and cheese tasting in the garden.
