Silver Strand State Beach

Silver Strand State Beach on Coronado is one of the best beaches in California for sunbathing, swimming, and surfing. It has extensive features both on the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay side. Silver Strand Beach offers camping, boating, water skiing, volley ball, picnicking, and other popular activities like fishing. For those who enjoy fishing they can find perch, grunion, yellow fin cracker, and corbina.

Park facilities include four parking lots for up to 1000 vehicles, restrooms, cold showers, and day use amenities. Cookouts in the summer are allowed. There are hours, fees, and conditions that can change yearly since it is a state park. Some restrictions may apply based on the season such as camping.

From Bay Side it is possible to see San Diego, the pedestrian tunnels which lead to the parking lots, and plenty of people. On the bay side the water is calmer, thus its best for swimming and barbeques. To the south of this area is a natural preserve with walking areas. Visitors can see cockle shells, snail shells, and other shells that wash up on shore. Dogs are not allowed on the bay side, but can be in the camping area and parking lots.
