Morro Bay State Park

Recreation in California is not hard to find. In fact, the state is known for its preservation of nature for recreation and environmental concerns. Morro Bay State Park is part of the preservation process in Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo County, California. The bay's northeastern section where there is a saltwater marsh begins the state park, and is also a haven for the bird population in the state.

Recreationally speaking guests can enjoy fishing, sailing, hiking, and bird watching. Fishing is done by permit only and restricted to certain amounts per visitor. Also at the park is the museum, which offers natural and cultural history. Visitors can explore what Native American life was like, how the area was formed from a geological standpoint, and even oceanography.

There is a marina and public golf course for further activities. Morro Bay State Park has two of the Nine Sisters volcanic peaks within its limits. Black Hill and Cabrillo are inside the park. Black Hill has a trail leading visitors through Monterey Pine trees, which makes up Flemings Forest. Elephant Seals are often found on the coastline section of the park. It is possible to see at least 20 to 25 bull seals on the beach, and hundreds of females.
