Long Beach Museum of Art

Long Beach Museum of Art displays their permanent collection along with traveling exhibits in a historic home built in 1912 as a summer residence for Elizabeth Milbank Anderson. During World War II, the building was used as an officer's club, and in 1957 was purchased by the City to be used as an arts center.

Long Beach Museum of Art's permanent collection includes over 3,000 pieces of artwork, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, and furnishings. The museum has developed a specialty in ceramics, contemporary California art, and 20th century European art.

They also offer educational programs for adults and youth. The museum includes the historic home (and carriage house), gardens, and a museum store. Guests may visit the museum Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or Fridays through Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The museum also hosts special events, weddings, or showers and has event planners on staff.

The Long Beach Museum of Art is located about 30 minutes south of Los Angeles International Airport and is just blocks away from the Pacific Ocean. Other nearby tourist sites include the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific, The Queen Mary and a Russian submarine, Laugh Factory, and several parks local parks.
