Lobero Theatre

Located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, the 680-seat Lobero Theatre has provided art and culture to the area since its foundation in 1873.

The Lobero is California's oldest theater that has run continuously since its opening and is a historical landmark well-known for its architectural style. The Lobero has stayed active throughout the Roaring '20's, the 1940's and today, serving to preview productions that later move on to the Hollywood stage. It has hosted notable performers such as Clark Gable, Betty Grable, John Cleese, Kathy Bates, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Carol Burnett. Today the arts groups performing here include Opera Santa Barbara, Flamenco Arts Festival, and Music Academy of the West.

Tickets may be purchased through the Lobero Theatre's website (www.tickets.lobero.com), by phone, or at the box office, which is open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The theater, rehearsal hall, and courtyard are all available to rent for corporate or other special events.

The Lobero is located one block away from Santa Barbara City Hall and is less than 100 miles northwest of LAX along the Pacific Coast. Visitors to the theater may also enjoy nearby El Presidio De Santa Barbara State Historic Park, Santa Barbara Historical Museum, Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
