El Matador Beach

El Matador Beach is open from 8am to sunset in Malibu, California. Parking is $2 per day with a meter box for all day passes. There is a small area of free parking on PCH. The beach is considered one of the best in Malibu due to the sea caves and large rocks that are found there. El Matador Beach is often used for photography, especially for modeling work by magazines. Beach goers may get to see the models on weekends and weekdays if they time their visit right. Unfortunately, the rocky beach makes it inaccessible to handicapped.

Visitors will find the upper cliffs are great for viewing the boulders, deep water below, and the kelp forests that grow there. Despite most of the rocky area there is still sand for sunbathers. Body surfers and regular surfers also use El Matador Beach for its magnificent surf. Summer and winter seasons have the best waves. The rocks do make the beach slightly dangerous for surfers, so they are cautioned to be careful. There is no lifeguard tower, but on really busy weekends a lifeguard can be placed on the beach. Food and drink is allowed on the beach, but there are no restaurants or vendors.
