Capitol Park

This park sits in the shadow of the California State Capital and is the destination of locals and visitors alike. There are office buildings nearby and weekdays you will see throngs of white color workers traipsing to and fro, on their way to lunch, on their way back from a meeting, or just enjoying some fresh air before heading back to their cubicles. There are many colorful characters who walk through and hang out at the park, making it a great place to people watch. There is a walking path that winds around the park. It runs for about a mile and is the perfect destination for those who want to get in some quick exercise on their lunch break. On the weekend, the trail is alive with bikers who just want to enjoy a simple, easy ride around the capital. It is also a great place for a picnic, and the open grassy areas are filled with blankets and baskets most weekends. The park is often crowded on the weekends, and even during the weekdays when the weather is picture-perfect. The park has a tendency to get warm and some of the frequent visitors complain about the steel benches that tend to warm up under the hot sun. This is a popular destination for wedding photos and some weekends it seems as if every bride in Sacramento is posing beside the rose garden.
