California State University-Sacramento

California State University-Sacramento is part of the public university system and is the sixth largest campus of the 23 throughout the state. It is located on 300-acres in the city of Sacramento and its campus is one of the main reasons students love the school. Walking to class along the miles of trails surrounded by 3,000 trees, flower gardens, and recreation areas is a treat for each of the students. The campus features residence halls and the large Goethe Arboretum on the north end. Students also get to enjoy Lake Natoma and Old Sacramento, both locaed on the campus. Another standout on campus is the Guy West Bridge. Crossing the American River, it is a smaller version of the Golden Gate Bridge. The campus features a large population of wildlife and it was once home to a large number of chickens. The school features different colleges including Arts and Letters, Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies, Business Administration, Education, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science, and Health and Human Services. There is also a Continuing Education program offered. The State Hornet is the school's newspaper and publishes over a dozen issues each semester. It also operates a website that is updated daily. The paper's Editor-in-Chief was given the National Newspaper Pacemaker Award, known as the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism.
