I unfortunately grew up in Chicago and couldn't get far enough away from it. I even lived just west of Milwaukee in the early 80's and it was a respite away from Chicago. Never liked crossing that border. The further North I got the better. So Eau Claire is just far enough to breath. I fully admit I'm NO liberal so Madison was never on my radar. I kind of liked Milwaukee however. The restaurants and bars in the area were superb as they still are. My wife worked downtown which wasn't bad at all. Anything BUT heading south

I only lived in Chicago briefly. Loved it. Love visiting it. Best value big city in the nation I've believe. I lived in Madison about a decade and it truly deserved its consistent top ten ranking as best places to live, though NOT NEAR as liberal as people portray. Maybe for the US, but the US is a very very right of center poltical system as far as western nations go.

Milwaukee has it all. Good airport. Rail. Easy accesibility to Chicago, a close to world class city. Just a modest sized city, overall, so not Chicago or MNPLS.

But this is about Eau Claire. It's solid. Not great Twin Cities or Chicago access, but could be worse. Good access to north woods.

As far as Milwaukee goes, I'd avoid heading toward Waukesha (armpit of the state with exceptional systemic racism (worked on those issues while there)), but south stinks too, until youre in public transit reach of Chicago. So like Beloit, Kenosha, Racine.... woof. Hell.

It has it all, if that's what you're looking for....Many of us are trying to get away from that @#$%.

If you're looking for a "world class city," why not just move to a real world class city?

I imagine if you were trying to move, or explore new areas during the pandemic would have definitely made it challenging. Hopefully now that it SEEMS we are regaining a sense of normalcy, that you can continue to find a place to find happiness, if you still "need" to move.

As far as Kenosha, I was actually in the court room at his sentencing!
his who?

I work in the court and jail system, and happened to have off on that Friday day, so I took a little trip to see the courtroom, and ended up witnessing a piece of Wisconsin history!!

I go back and forth between the Wisconsin and the Illinois forums. Not sure why the Wisconsin one is not so "fun" for the contributors to engage... Well, I hope you find what you're looking for. Life is too short not to!

ManApplet,

Good morning.

To help clarify, "his" referred to Kyle Rittenhouse.

Do tell us about 'his sentencing' that you were 'in the court room at' .

ManApplet, the only difference in # 26 is the word written out:

"his"
