The City of Ranson approved a franchise agreement with Shentel/Shenandoah Cable for telecommunications on October 6, 2020. I was told by a regional consultant that the purpose is to install fiber and offer 2 Gig service to the homes in Ranson. If reasonably priced, this could be a game changer as it demonstrates that municipalities can look out for citizens and offer them an advantage in business, education and time-wasting leisure activities too.
Maybe we should be asking candidates in the upcoming municipal elections (Bolivar, Harpers Ferry, Charles Town) if they can snag similar deals?
