Violent crime rates have fallen even below pre-covid levels in the US, but property crime rates haven't yet. I suspect the latter will become more of a focus of local governments and PDs now that the former has resumed its decades-long downward trend.

That depends on what you consider a violent crime. Is armed carjacking a violent crime or a property one? Armed robbery?

Maryland still considers burglary a violent crime above a certain level.

And I'll repeat what I said a bit ago, it doesn't matter what the actual rate is if the perception is that it's out of control.

Good. My tax dollars need not subsidize yet another wealthy sports owner.

The Caps and the Wiz are fine where they are currently located. I do agree the police should be more proactive in the area.

They should just relocate to the RFK site next to the new Commanders stadium and build a mega development surrounding the two stadiums. I saw something where the Philadelphia Phillies are seeking to do something similar up there, and to those who think it can't or shouldn't be done in a "urban" city having stadiums of this size, go visit Barcelona and see how their Futbol and Basketball arenas are setup.
This is what should happen tbh. That our just a full scale remodel “new Arena” in Gallery Place.
