so those of us who exhausted our regular 26 weeks of unemployment and then couldnt find work due to corona were granted the 13 weeks. then we were placed on the 20 week extension. so if we exhausted that we are now (congress passed and trump signed) able to claim 11 weeks? correct? now of our benefit year expires at 12/31/2020 what do we do? try to claim? call? file new claim? no one knows?

if your benefit year expires on 12/31 you will have to file a new claim first regardless of new bill signed. That's normal procedure. If you're ineligible for a new claim then you should be put back on PEUC for the 11 weeks. But we will have to wait until states get guidelines from US DOL on PEUC program changes.

I'm in the same boat as you. My benefit year expired 4/20 so I filed again, but UI chose to extend my benefit year to 12/31 and have me collect off the first claim. I exhausted everything mid November. I'm trying to call UI because I don't know what happened to the claim I filed 4/20. I'm afraid if I file again on my own I could mess things up. When did your benefits exhaust?

Actually....My friend's benefit year is Oct 2019 to Oct 2020. She just finished her 20th week of Fed-Ed. I believe (in Cali.) that you do not open a new claim until they say to do so. if you have a "Check back on this date" to certify....you are good for now. Opening a new claim may confuse things and mess you up.

My claim is 12/01/2019 to 12/01/2020 and I am on my 16th week of Fed-Ed....passed a year already but still going..

wait and see what guidance NJ was given by US DOL. Murphy said at yesterday's press conference that DOL Commissioner said 2pm phone call from US DOL.. Today the system is down.. which IMO is a good sign that they are working on extension implementations and FPUC $300 payments.

Yes the system is down and I couldn’t claim as usual.

Then there’s notice that you can use the make-up window; and low and behold-
It’s saying it’s not my time slot!!!

What a joke

because they're jamming 6 time slots into one time slot now. just keep trying or phone claim tomorrow at 7am if you're not PUA or make up time slots on Friday or Saturday.

So I finally spoke to someone at NJ UI. The first person told me they didn't know anything about additional weeks of PEUC being added. (!!!) They told me that since I had exhausted all benefits on my original claim, (which I think was extended to 12/31/20) I should just file another claim. The lack of any real knowledge here led me to believe that this was NOT an agent but a rep.

So I tried calling again to speak with someone else. Three times I was disconnected after a 15-20 minute wait, but finally I got through.

This agent/rep told me that they are still waiting for direction from the DOL on how to proceed. They recommended to wait until next week and either call back or check the website for further information. This person also said if I needed to file a new claim, I would need to wait a day or two anyway if my benefit year ends 12/31/20. There was a little more information with this person, but not sure if they were an agent.

So bottom line for now is to just wait.
