Traveling in a camper through Missouri, South Dakota, Iowa.......weather has definitely got my attention. Last night heavy rain, thunderstorms near where I camped south of Omaha. Had the weather radio on for much of the late night just in case. No tornado warnings, but a lot of flooding...
Apparently I never posted about the Norman tornado of last month in here. Norman was hit by an EF1 on October 19, and it caused some damage to the Riverwind Casino. I knew of multiple people out in their cars when it happened, and some of them drove recklessly to avoid it. No one I knew suffered any damage, but there were some branches down and stuff in the southwest part of town. I know people on the observation deck of the National Weather Center saw power flashes before they were forced to go downstairs
2017 hurricane season has produced the highest number of reported tornadoes since 2008 with a whopping 119 reported tornadoes with almost half of them coming from hurricane Harvey which produced 57 alone
