New to the android thing, I just replaced my pc based tab and have been slow to catch on it seems.

I am used to seeing a drop-down list of previous sign-ins for the various sites. My new android tab does not seem to be catching on to the fairly consistent trail I'm setting. Is this an actual 'setting' that I need to turn on or how does one establish this shortcut ? typing in the full address is so challenging on a tab keyboard to me (rather than a traditional), not to mention timely. Also, I cannot find a traditional keyboard, or keyboard choices, to use either. no front or back arrows is a pia and too large on the screen. Apps are available but which app ? Lenovo tab3 8 is my android.

Hopefully, this is a simple solution and not a cheap tab problem...

Your problem isn't with the tablet, it's with the apps you're using on the tablet, and/or their settings.

The display of your previous sign-ins is a setting missing (or not turned on) called History, on your browser app.
My Android Firefox app shows previous URLs, suggests as I type, and has full bookmark capabilities (that can sync with my PC's Firefox if I so choose).

Keep in mind that Firefox is different than Internet Explorer, different than Chrome, etc.
And the Android OS version of these (apps) have different settings and capabilities.
Google search and try out various ones until you get the features you want.

Likewise: There are many different keyboard replacement apps.
Find one that has arrows and a keyboard layout you like.

Yea, Ed nailed it.
That's the beauty of Android. This one app doesn't do what you want? Find one that will.

any specifics ? I've tried several and just can't find a standard desktop keyboard, all seem to be the same with frills (like photos). and I reckon I'll sorta stumble into the shortcuts one day. ☺

I like GBoard. Go Keyboard is pretty popular and configurable.

Have you looked at any keyboards specifically tagged "Tablet"?
