That is the nice thing about goverment ran by the people... something can be brought to a vote with no limits on it. Its one of the great things about living in this country.

I just don't get how the State can keep going back to the well on this one, knowing good and well it would immediately get taken to the Supreme Court and more than likely reversed due to it going against Roe vs. Wade... Who would be paying for those court proceedings and legal issues ?? That's right, the tax payers of South Dakota. Seems to me they are just stuck on stupid with this !!!

I think they are of the opinion "if we keep pushing, eventually we win" -- hope they're wrong. The fact that they've lost the last 2 gives me hope and makes me proud of the people of our fair state.

If something like this were to pass in all likelyhood would force the Surpreme court to view Roe v. Wade again.

I guess as what point does one life become an issue of money?

Also a great scientific debate about this issue, when is a human a human?

Another point: If its not a human life until its born how can someone be charged with the murder of an unborn child? Usually charged in assault cases and cases where a mother of an unborn child is killed by a violent act.

I guess it's set in my mind that when the unborn is capable of survival outside of the womb, then it's a baby. Does that make sense? And in response to your "another point" - maybe it has something to do with the intentions of the mother?? If the mother plans to carry to term, mother is attacked and baby is killed, it's considered murder?? Not really sure there -- I think an expectant mother should have some sort of justice if her baby is intentionally killed or harmed, father should have the same rights if the mother also doesn't survive.
