Here's the future for home phones. More phone companies are likely to move from landline connections to broadband connections. It'll be interesting to see how this turns out.
2 of my former employers went to internet phone service. There was a degradation in sound quality.
Then they have issues w/ their setup. I used VOIP phones for years and audio quality was fine. In fact, I usually make and receive calls on my old smart phone that has no service using an app which works w/ my internet modem, and use Skype on my laptop almost daily. Works great.
Receptions is always good on my modern cellphone. Literally, always. Never do I ever have sound quality issues anymore.
Charging nightly isn't hard. Especially with the rise of the wireless charger...
This depends entirely on location. I'm in a rural mountainous area and cell service is very spotty. I know plenty of people who don't get service at home, at least not voice calls. Sometimes texting works. (Not sure why)

That's a possibility. I converted to fiber optic in January 2024, which includes digital phone. I was able to keep my landline phone. My copper connection was removed. My phone seems to be as good as it was before.
What type of phone do you have ? Can you remove the transmitter cover ?
I've "fixed" many "people can't hear me" problems over the years, just by cleaning the transmitter. You'd be amazed at the amount of debris that the transmitter collects, just from people speaking into it.
