All that and we're still bested by Trenton NJ in terms of quality of life.

Average rent ($2,592) median home price (1.6 million) and property taxes are all much higher than San Diego here in Sammamish, WA, but I guess we are too small at only 65,000 to be included in that article. Even higher are some other smaller cities nearby such as Mercer Island, and Medina, WA.

The difference is that San Diego pays poorly and does not have the high paying jobs (i.e. union shipyards, Amazon, etc) like greater Seattle.

This is a good thing. Now people know. I fully expect it to go down (maybe 5thish) next year. Tons of remote workers came here the last few years. Tons are needing to go back. I'm speaking from personal experience. My employer is massive and they have done this. Go back to your home office or find a new team/job where you're at. It's been 50/50.

All I can say is, you people(well, some of you anyway) have no idea how lucky you are to live in San Diego. By far my favorite city but I ain't no millionaire and I will never be able to move there. In the meantime, I will keep visiting your city every year and having the best week of the year spent near Point Loma and Shelter Island. Did you ever have that feeling in a particular city, like you belong there? That is Shelter Island for me. Who knows, maybe my previous life?

Loved living in San Diego but never could afford a home there. Sacramento more affordable with better jobs.
