Does anyone remember a Dr. McMaster (I think that is his name). Had his practice on San Pedro near Taco Cabana on San Pedro/Hildebrand. I think he moved his practice, maybe across to the other side of San Pedro and then he was gone.

Does anyone know what happened to him and if anyone took over his practice?

I don't know where he went or what happend to him. I can only hope he went out of business? I went to him at my Mom's suggestion. I did well until one I day passed out, fell on my face and broke my nose. When I called him about it, his reply was to "take two Alka Seltzer." I never went back. That was back in the early 1980's.

He was a dermatologist who helped with Atkins, he was great (for me at least). I lost like 80 pounds, wow I wish he were still around. I wonder if there is anyone else who does what he did?

He didn't "help." He offered the diet to those interested in losing weight. I'm not sure if it was truly the Atkins Diet or something else. From my recollection (and experience) he gave handouts with foods you could/couldn't eat. Basically meat, eggs and cheese were at the top of the list of foods to eat (along with pork rinds) - as much as you wanted to eat at meal time. Veggies were very limited and fruit was nearly non-exisitent. Bread of any kind (rice and potatoes too) were off limits completely. He prescribed thyroid medications (without ever taking a drop of my blood) and if your weight loss slowed offered shots of vitamin B (12, I think.) And for light-headedness he suggested taking Alka-Seltzer Gold tablets - in water, of course.

I've seen several of these types of places that "sell" 700 cal diets with B12 shots for $200. There is one off SW Military I think called Nueva Vida. My friend did something like this last yr at a location off Fredericksburg, and she ended up buying the shots online and following a strict diet. She lost a lot of weight........ and money.
