An older man was shot and killed in broad daylight during a carjacking Saturday, outside Walmart on Blanco Rd.
The killer was ... 13 years old kid.
3 other men arrested after vehicle chase; the 13-year-old suspect, who was driving the car, admitted to shooting the victim during robbery.
SAPD said sometime after the shooting, officers were able to track down the teen’s vehicle, which was reported as stolen at an apartment complex in the 10300 block of Sahara Drive, and, while there, detectives witnessed four people get inside the car.
The teen faces a list of charges, including capital murder, unlawful use of a firearm, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

The suspect also had an outstanding warrant, unrelated to the deadly shooting.

Seems many or most of these suspects have "outstanding warrants". Why does not someone round them up and lock them up ? They say Los Angeles has had over 1,000,000 outstanding warrants, that was a report from 10 years ago. I suppose if a large bond was put up then a bonding company would get busy.

Hate to sound like my elderly parents but this country is seriously going down the toilet.

Only to be expected when you have a "soft on crime" DA. Get a REAL DA that'll actively pursue these cases, and watch the crime rates drop.

Crime is down year over year in San Antonio, but don't let a tragedy go to waste so you can make a political statement.

Not sure that is accurate. First is All Violent Crime. Second is All Property Crime.

It is well known that San Antonio's Mayor and Sheriff and District Attorney are "blue". The DA is also well known to be "soft" on crime. Politics abound in any government position. Can't get away from it in opinions and comments.

This is standard gang initiation behavior by multiple generations of non and poorly parented who have grown up on grand theft auto with no moral grounding. As well as how they get their thrills.

To paraphrase Lincoln, "a house (infested with termites) cannot stand". Time for the Orkin Army.

Is it?

Yes, the new FBI data is poor quality. But we’ve always needed better.

Was 2023 an outlier or a trend? Also, since FBI stats are basically useless, I would only rely on SAPD's number which are still suspect.

Was the last "red" DA of San Antonio pulling strings to get her son's friend out of a felony charge for bringing a gun into the airport also "soft" on crime"? The last few DAs we have had have all been terrible and corrupt.
