Retired military currently in Portland TX and hopefully moving to San Antonio to retire for good.
Looking at moving to one of the following areas (Bison Ridge, Kallison Ranch, Riverstone at Westpointe)
Traffic is really not an issue due to working from home.
Mainly concerned with the homes there (Perry and DR Horton) Any foundation problems or any defects in quality of build.
Warranty issues with the builders?
How are the HOAs there?
Property taxes should be expect (100% DV) are there any city taxes or are these area outside that boundary? (Heard some rumors about that area possibly being included for city taxes?
I have looked at both builders recently and in the past year. Both builders offer great homes just been hearing some negatives on both but that comes with every home builder I would assume. DR. Horton reminds me of my current house which was built by Braselton and I think they were bought out by DR. Horton if I did my research correctly. It seems you get more space for your money with DR Horton but Perry homes looks much nicer. I'm just torn between both homes have been looking at David Weekly homes as well so if anyone has any info on those as well that would be appreciated.
Thanks for your input.

All I can tell you is that I recently ruled out DR Horton homes from my home search. I didn't see the quality I was looking for, and other builders at similar price points did offer the quality. It was disappointing.

Yeah after doing some research and reading a lot of reviews DR Horton is probably a no go for me now.

Comparing DR and Perry is like comparing apples to oranges.
DR is a great product, especially for first time homebuyers. Perry is going to be a higher quality product and the finishes are not going to be as basic. When you walk in you will see and feel the difference.

You will find when researching builders there are alot of keyboard warriors out there that will throw out reviews on all of them, including custom builds.
