There was a request for Houston Street Photos. Here they are. These were taken the same day I photographed the Riverwalk, March 9, 2008.

Default Houston Street

G -- I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes -- your photos are wonderful! Downtown SA is so beautiful -- I have GOT to make a visit. I loved walking on Houston Street as a college student in early 60s -- and it's even prettier now. Such lovely memories of a lovely city. Thanks for posting!

I struck up a conversation with Gen. Santa Anna, one of my distant relatives captured Santa Anna after the Battle of San Jacinto, Joel Robison. Two others with him wanted to kill this private but R
Robison spoke Spanish and the man said to take him to Sam Houston. Figuring this guy might be important he took this barefooted private on back of his horse and as they approached Sam Houston sitting under an oak tree, the captured soldiers started yelling, "El Presidente!". As a thank you to Robison for saving his life, Santa Anna presented Joel Robison, the Presidential jacket, which was passed down through generations as a wedding outfit for the groom.
