I was recently the victim of a burglary and would like to hear from anyone who has a security system how they feel about the service it provides? What companies or services do you recommend? Or not recommend.
I live in a loft building right in Downtown. In order to get to the lofts you've got to clear a main door which is always locked and can only be opened by residents. On last year's Thanksgiving a lot of the residents were away and somebody entered the building and started breaking into every loft. Fortunately, most of the doors to each unit held but some people weren't so lucky. I can say I was pretty surprised when I returned to my place the day after Thanksgiving and got a call from the maintenance guy asking if I was missing anything in my apartment.
The management then opted for CCTV surveillance on the entrance. So far, so good, seems to be a deterrent.
