Tip for the year ahead: Fast food sales in the triangle area recently went up during recession according to an ABC11 market survey.
So stay Healthy by avoiding snacks and fast food as these are major causes of type II diabetes, stroke, cardiac arrests, high blood pressure and obesity-induced disorders. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Also, no Cola, no smoking/drinking.
If you don't do this, you'll make the healthcare industry richer by giving it a splendid opportunity to sell you all the obesity and diabetes-related drugs.

I'm curious to see this survey to see how it was conducted. I have two questions for you.
1) Could you provide a link to the survey you referenced? I can't find it online anywhere.
2) Are you sure this was a survey of the Triangle? You mention NBC11. However, The NBC affiliate in The Triangle is NBC17.

Gotcha! Thanks! You really had me confused there with the NBC11 thing.
I read that McDonalds stock is doing quite well in the recession, which makes sense. And cheap food tends to be unhealthy food. No matter how bad the recession gets, there's a lot of things that will get cut out of the budget before we stop buying lean meats, fish and fresh veggies.
We don't think about it often, but you can swing into a grocery store and grab a piece of fruit and a water in about the same time as the candy bar and soda at a c-store and possibly cheaper.
Very true! I think the bad economy forces people to consume sugary foods for their serotonin craving. An easy alternative is to continue buying healthy food and satiate the serotonin craving with something else, like reading articles that make you laugh off all the frustration. U can also take a break and go on an inexpensive 1-day trip to the Wilmington beach, come home happy and satisfied and then buy healthy foods. Cravings gone !

Heck, quite a few gas stations / stop-and-robs even carry fresh fruit. Usually in a basket or something near the checkout. You can get a bottle of juice or water and a banana for about what you'd spend on a bag o'crap.
