Some of you may remember Yuba, the 16.5 year-old cat that I adopted late last year after she was surrendered at a local shelter. She had been with her owner since she was 4 weeks old (he had even brought her from Japan), but he was deploying and his GF wouldn't take her because she didn't get along with her other cats. Yuba didn't get along with my four at first either, but eventually stopped snorting and hissing at them. She even slept on the LR sofa or in the back porch for long hours, lying in a sunny spot. Unfortunately her hyperthyroidism and kidney disease at age 17 got the better of her little 5 lb. frame, and a very sudden and obvious reversal in her health made it necessary to painlessly let her go. I held and stroked her all the time, and it was very peaceful. I tried to do for her what I said I would: give her a loving, caring home in which to spend her last days. I hope she liked it while she was here.
I do remember your adoption story - bless you for taking in a senior cat. There can be no doubt that she had a good life right until the very end. (((HUGS)))
Oh, I'm so sorry. Of course I remember Yuba; you gave her a loving home when she needed one. And now you've given her the sendoff she deserved. You were both lucky to have found each other.
Bungalove, God bless you for giving her such care and love. You made her last days (here on Earth) a comfort and she went to Rainbow Bridge knowing how loved she is.

Thanks. I really am glad she had time to spend on the sofa and back porch, soaking up the sun and napping. She would make the cutest little sounds if she woke up, totally unlike her usual loud "yell". It's surprising how much I miss her, since I only had her about 6 months.
