You'll love the area!! I'm down in Stuart & it's a great place to live!! People are (for the most part) friendly, & amenities are not far away. The 1 drawback I've seen in PSL is the traffic (especially in "season"), but overall, a great place to live!!

We've been traveling down to nurseries to see what new plants we can adopt, & I just bought a michelia champaca which has highly perfumed flowers that they make "Joy" perfume outta!! We had an ylang-ylang tree which perfumed the yard almost all year, but had to have it cut down...it was towering 40 feet over our roof!!
For everyone's FYI....there's a plant show at the Martin County Fairgrounds next weekend (28-29th) in case anyone's interested...

Anyone ever had a "Moon Flower" plant? It's awesome! It's like a vine, and the white flower will bloom and open at sunset. The frag smell is like a very expensive perfume. I love it!

Great plant & easy to grow!!
Believe it or not, it's in the same family as the sweet potato!!
(then again, mangoes are in the same family as poison ivy...hence, some people's allergic reaction to them...
)

If you love orchids, you'll think you died & went to Heaven in Florida!!
There's tons of shows & the nice thing is, you can mount them on trees, hang them or pot them outside & they grow well!!
I must have well over 100 (I lost count years ago...) all over the jungle, & they bloom at different times of the year, so something's always blooming!!

Mangoes,pears and persimmon <spelling ) is what we plan right away @ our home
We already this past Christmas cut down a tree in our yard that our nieghbor CC said she was allergic to when they bloom,,( I don't remember what she said it was ) she has been rehabing her inlaws house and they plan to move in , they sold thier home in Stuart where he was employed and are planning thier retirement in PSL niether of us full time residents but already looking forward to being nieghbors
(Cutting down the tree no questions asked is the only way to start a new beginning )

Pears will not grow this far south, & I don't think persimmons either...
They both need more chill hours (colder temps longer than we get) to regenerate no matter what they tell you at the big box stores!!
There is a peach variety they developed that bears this far south, but I haven't heard of any other "non-tropical" fruit that's been developed yet that'll grow here with so few chill hours...
It's nice that you & your neighbor are starting off on the right foot!! Personally, over the years, I've come to the conclusion that good fences make good neighbors!!
