Below is a link for 5 acres and a house built in 1976 for $850,000. A big problem with the house is that it doesn't appear to be built with block.

Thanks for the link! Unfortunately, that's way above what we want to pay and we don't need such a large house anyway.

And yes, we'd like to have a hurricane-ready house anyway.

I'm wondering if there are much smaller houses (e.g., 2 bedroom/bathroom) with some land. Of course, I will look for these. We plan to rent in the area first for a year, so we have some time to buy a house. Right now, I'm just trying to get an initial sense of the area.
