Looks like former UF Gator Quarterback and NFL player Tim Tebow is coming to Port St. Lucie

Oh no! I lived in G'ville when he played for UF—couldn't get away from the guy. Knew at least 3 people at the dog park (Dog Wood Park—fantastic place) who named their dog "Tebow."

Get ready, cosplayers, sci-fi fans and lovers of all things cartoons.

The second annual Treasure Coast Comic Con is heading to the Port St. Lucie Civic Center from Sept. 16-18.

Plenty of vendors and photo ops will be found at the event from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center, located on the corner of Walton Road and U.S. 1, at 9221 S.E. Civic Center Place.

This year's Comic Con includes an interesting cast of celebrities, plus a diverse gathering of comic vendors, table top and video gaming and cosplay costume contests.

Patrons also can get autographs and take photos with their favorite celebrities -- for a fee -- and purchase memorabilia and mingle with other comic and sci-fans from the Treasure Coast.

Actors and actresses at this year's Comic Con include:

Fast and the Furious
Dark Knight Rises
Training Day
Arrow
Power Rangers

Picnic dinner
Kick off the weekend with a community picnic on the lawn at Tradition Town Hall, 10489 SW Meeting St. in Port St Lucie.

More than 20 food trucks will be invading the square from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday. Trucks like Sweet Cravings NY, It Cannoli Be and Georgia Boy & Ethel's Famous Wings represent the eclectic fusion of menu options available. This is not fast food, your dinner will be specially prepared for you, so pack your lawn chair or folding blanket and relax while someone else cooks for you.

Free concert
The Ladies of Soul will perform a free concert Saturday at Sebastian Inlet State Park, 9700 Highway A1A in Melbourne Beach.
The trio of vocalists had a big crowd dancing to hits of the '90s and more at last month’s Dancin’ in the Streets music festival in Stuart. The show goes from 7 to 9 p.m at the pavilions on Coconut Point on the south side of Sebastian Inlet.
Pack some lawn chairs, a cooler and some bug spray and enjoy the show with the family. Park admission is $8 per carload (up to eight) and $4 for a single occupant vehicle.

Birding and photo tour
Photographers and nature lovers might want to get up early Saturday to tour Lakeside Ranch in Okeechobee.
The property is normally closed to the public but the Audubon of Martin County has access to the 2,600-acre site abundant with wildlife and is offering a guided tour from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Hogs, alligators, roseate spoonbills and bald eagles are just some of the wildlife you’re likely to see.

To see them without getting out of your car, you’ll need to join the vehicle safari which starts promptly at 7 a.m. If you prefer to arrive later, you can walk the berm roads on your own. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, insect repellent, snacks, binoculars and a camera.

The Lakeside Ranch STA is on Route 15B in Martin County. From I-95, take route 714 west, turn right on Route 710, go a quarter mile and turn left on Route 15B. The ranch is immediately after the milk production plant on the left. The nearest navigational address is 9400 S.E. 126th Blvd. in Okeechobee. For more information visit www.audubonmartincounty.org or call 772-288-2637.

Shine on harvest moon
Get a different perspective of the full moon rise Friday night.
Enjoy the view from atop the Jupiter Lighthouse or on the water in a motorized kayak. The tour at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, 500 Captain Armour’s Way, starts at 6:15 p.m. Friday. Children must be at least 48 inches tall and adults must be fit enough to climb the 105 cast iron steps in the tight spiral staircase. Tickets are $20. For reservations or more information, call 561-747-8380

Fun to watch this weekend at Sebastian Inlet It is actually on the North side of the Inlet which is Brevard County, but a fun day watching people of all ages compete on long, short, and this year paddle boards. This contest used to be called Doctors, Lawyers, Weekend Warriors. No pros just some of our local surfers getting to surf first peak with out a lot of crowds on each wave.
