Los Angeles has another 2,364 COVID-19 cases, NYC has 14 new cases, North Dakota has 7 new cases (illegal, statistics)

Amazing how NYC has had a 98% drop in cases, ND is down well over 90% from their peak.
California meanwhile is turning into Brazil. Gavin Newsom has turned into Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro on COVID-19 the last several weeks and decided to do a complete 180 degree turn.
California is in complete economic meltdown and the governor knows it so despite skyrocketing cases he decided to become the biggest COVID-19 opener the world has ever seen over the course of a week.
Interesting, how California is in such a state of economic collapse that the governor when the May 2020 job numbers came out that Newsom decided to basically emulate Arizona and President Trump.
I wonder if California will turn into a massive public health disaster in the next couple of weeks because Gavin Newsom changed his mind and decided to emulate Bolsonaro/Trump over night and opened up a vast majority of businesses last Friday.
Los Angeles is near the top of any city in the world on COVID-19 currently. Seems like lately well over 2,000 cases per day and they have a "Social Welfare" doctor running the public health department.
New York did many shameful things over the response, but at least they have public health people who seem to at least have an idea about how viruses work.
Los Angeles on the under hand has a "Social Welfare" doctor who has no idea about how viruses work coordinating her response which is a complete fiasco.

Not so surprising. New Yorkers are scare to get out as crime has a huge increase with 125% of shootings over the last week. Who wants to go out in NY, where crime is high, looters destroyed stores and police is treated like they are the worst.
Not sure if I ever will go to NY, unless there will be a different mayor and different Governor who have control over their city and get it was under Guilliani or the beginning of Bloomberg first term.
California daily death rates are still far lower than New York at their peak. Average is around 70 deaths a day in a state of 50 million while New York averaged 1,000 deaths a day at peak in a state of around 20 million. I'd say the record number of cases is due to widespread pop up testing sites where even asymptomatic cases are being diagnosed in young people. During the peak in New York, only the severely ill got tested.
Funny how our esteemed poster "lovecrowds" points fingers at California from Arizona. What's going in Arizona, you say?
"Arizona has emerged as one of the nation’s most active hotspots for the spread of COVID-19. Use of hospitals, intensive care units and ventilators has set daily records over the past week. And it has the highest percentage of positive tests in the nation"
AZ: 7993 cases per 1 mil people
CA: 4815 cases per 1 mil people
Arizona? More like Ari-Covid-Zona.
And of course our lame excuse for a president doesn't have the common sense nor courtesy to cancel his trip there.
Texas, Florida and Arizona are pretty much out of control. Texas has nearly 6000 new cases.
NYC was criticized for taking it seriously but it seems like they are getting the last laugh.
Texas still has one the lowest death rates of Covid in the U.S: 77 Covid deaths per million people of the general population compared to New York's 1,600 per million people of the general population. This makes me think it's mainly due to an increase in testing. If testing were as widespread back in March as it was now, I'm sure New York would have had about 50,000 new cases per day. Just to clarify, let's re-visit this thread in about a month and see if California and Texas's death rates shoot through the roof in the same proportions as their new daily cases did in the past week.

Good ole red state of South Carolina coming in just under a 1000 cases for the day.
