I feel your pain. It's crazy. Nothing is the same. It's a completely different world. A kidney pool of the same size was the price as my rectangle. I had my choice. Rectangle went better in the space I was using. My pool guy said before covid this was a $40,000 dollar pool. Now it's 60 grand.

Labor shortage is a big, big issue here. My builder told me what use to take him 6 months to build, now takes a year or more. And, I'm not new to having my home built. This is my third home build. Not cookie cutter in a track home development. I buy lots and have my homes built. This build has been the most frustrating. I wouldn't do it again. It takes a lot of patience and add a minimum of 20 percent over what you figure your cost to play it safe.

Oh no, here we go again. And, tell him we are so happy he doesn't live in Arizona too.

Wow. You guys are lucky in AZ.

I'm putting in pool soon at my house in San Diego, and so far I've gotten 3 bids. $96K, $99K and $106K.

This is for a basic 15' x 30' rectangle pool with spa in corner. No waterfalls, pop ups, fountains, bubblers etc... No decking or hardscape either.

NYC papers have no clue what's going on in the Southwest US. No doubt there are water problems (too many damn people) from LA to Phx, but Phoenix has a 100 year water plan that includes limiting new developments. Since my property will be on a well, I would pay to have a water truck fill it and then just top it off with local water.

PS - all they have to do is get rid of the wacko environmentalists and start desalination. No more water problems....

California is always the exception rather than the rule. There is expensive, and there is California expensive.

Lol, come on guys, just having a little fun here, but my neighbor does read me the articles, that's true. We don't wish anyone in this country severe problems with water or anything. I think my neighbor (he's 92) is really worried about you guys running out of water and that's why he's always telling me about it.

I had a rectangular pool installed in Florida in the year 2,000, it cost $12,000 with decking and solar panels to heat it, and the pool service cost $25.00 monthly!

That was 23 yrs ago. What does that have to do with today. What does it cost today?
