What can I expect to pay a month in Ottawa in a 1-bed/1bath apartment if I choose a unit that does not already include electricity, hydro, heat, and wifi included in the rent price?
This depends upon the type of heating, and the type of utilities you have to pay. These are not identical in every apartment.
Some apartments have baseboard electric heaters, which are more expensive in the winter. Some units have air conditioning which can increase your summer electricity/hydro bill. Some units have a hot water heater rental cost every month, some do not. Some units have gas which is charged separately from electricity/hydro meaning the electric outlets and lights.
I have a unit currently, that includes hydro, an air conditioning unit that I use during the summer, and gas for the stove and to heat hot water. I pay around $60 per month for hydro. Gas is about $70 per month on average. This is for a 1 bedroom, 1 bath unit in a newer low rise building.
