Any fishermen out there ? I am taking up fishing as a ways to get out the house and relax. Wondering if there are any local recommendations for bank fishing? I wont have access to a boat. I suppose i would just want to know where i could fish and not lose too many hooks to underwater logs, rocks etc..a place for beginner to start out....

merci

Lots of people fish in the city in Gatineau along both the Ottawa River and Gatineau.

Popular spots are along Jacques-Cartier right across from Rockcliffe Park.

Also in the vicinity of the Champlain Bridge.

And near the Alonzo-Wright Bridge on the Gatineau River.

You do need a Quebec fishing licence but don't need to go to a government office to get one.

thanks, would be nice if we could get a license for both provinces rolled into one, say an NCC area license

We'd have to pay way more in auto insurance.

my Ontario fishing license does cover me for fishing the outaouis/ottawa river from the Quebec shore and also some lakes further west (Timiskaming for example) but locally nothing north of highway 148. So basically just the river
