Check out IRMAA. People with certain incomes are required to pay much more for basic Medicare and part D prescriptions.

Please consider IRMAA which easily get your Plan B up to 750-1k/quarter per insured.

Just for clarity..the 880 per month doesn't include what comes out of their ss direct deposits. Another 175 each per month sounds about right. So 1230 per month..medicare + part b, plus part d. Great eye care specialists in Charlottesville..that is mostly covered.

Their income is mid 100s...so that wouldn't penalize them according to the chart.

I thought I had to take Part B when I hit 65, even though I had employer coverage. I was set up to pay close to $800 per quarter and the RX benefits I was buying was outrageous. Benefit, my pa-tooti. I am now consciously earning less (sales) but working for insurance.

My PCP told me once I went on Medicare (B), I could no longer see him, he does not participate with Medicare. He's the reason I unwound signing up. Turns out, he is one of 1000's not accepting Medicare.

The system is still broken. We need a (radical) fix. People are literally dying, not able to get the care they need when they need it the most.

Medicare premiums are dependent upon yearly income. We were paying 580 each per month….last year our income dropped so we are in the middle range now. Our SS monthly deposits went up as Medicare B is deducted from SS. The 170 or so monthly is for very low yearly income only

Here's some correct information with a credible link.

One percent of all non-pediatric physicians have formally opted-out of the Medicare program in 2023, with the share varying somewhat by specialty type, and highest for psychiatrists (7.7%).

Psychiatrists account for the largest share (40.2%) of all non-pediatric physicians who have opted out of Medicare in 2023.

Less than two percent of physicians have opted-out of Medicare in all but four states and the District of Columbia, where the rate is slightly higher: Alaska (3.1%), Colorado (2.3%), Wyoming (2.3%), Idaho (2.1%), and the District of Columbia (2.0%).
