Hi folks. We will be heading down south in a few months and are considering taking a new route. (coming down from Maine - likely staying in Dover, DE area first night) Norfolk onto 158 down thru NC along the coast (Kill Devil Hills and such), over to #264 to 17 into New Bern. The ending stop is in the Beaufort, SC area. Any thoughts on this route? Well likely stay along the coast route right down to the final destination.

- Fun or interesting stops along the way
- Yarn Shops
- Bakeries
- Candy Shops
- Pleasant Walkways / walking paths
- Places to eat
- Places to stay

Thank you in advance

I would avoid this route if it is beach season.

We will be driving it the end of next month … should be ok at that time?

yes, end of February will avoid most traffic, but many of the beach communities are very seasonal, so things may not be open. Pros and Cons.

In Nags head, jockey's ridge is worth a stop. It's one of the largest sand dunes on the east coast.

When we visit, we like to eat at Blue Moon Beach grill which is very close to the dunes.

A little further down, closer to Manteo, there is Blue water grill which is the sister restaurant. It has a better view of the water

Hurricane Mo's in Kitty Hawk has excellent shrimp and wings!

And the Wright Memorial is there too of course.

By late February the crocus will have flowered early daffodils will be up and if there is a warm spell some trees might flower. By mid March, spring will be in full and the air will be sweet. Days can be warm, nights chilly; but it can still be cold and wet.

2024 Daffodil Festival will be held April 6th & 7th in Gloucester County, Virginia, but alas, that seems not possible on your schedule.

Honestly there are folks who say "I know this route, let's stick with what I know"
and folks who say "I've been that route, let's try something new."

Sounds like you (and I) fall in category two. Go for it. Sounds like some good suggestions but I bet you find something interesting that you never anticipated!
